Parents are part of the team here. You will be involved in the consent process, walked through what to expect, given a child-friendly explanation to share at home, and welcomed into the recovery area as soon as your child is awake. We know this is a big day for the whole family, and we plan it accordingly.

Safe paediatric anaesthesia
Our anaesthetists are experienced in paediatric ambulatory anaesthesia. We use age-appropriate techniques, child-sized equipment, warming, distraction and parental presence at induction where appropriate. The aim is to make the day feel as ordinary as possible — and the wake-up as gentle as possible.
Helping the day go well
Practical preparation matters. We will send you a child-friendly preparation guide, fasting instructions tailored to your child’s age, and a checklist of comfort items to bring along. On the day, expect a quiet, unhurried environment with team members who are very used to children — and to the parents who love them.
